Ramat David Israeli Air Force Base (ICAO: LLRD) is one of three principal airbases of the Israeli Air Force and is located southeast of Haifa, close to kibbutz Ramat David and Megiddo in the Jezreel Valley. It was originally built as a Royal Air Force station in 1942 under the British Mandate and was known as RAF Ramat David. On May 26, 1948 it was turned over to the newly created Israel Defense Forces, who currently base 3 F-16 C/D squadrons and a Hughes 500MD squadron. Ramat David hosted the 117th Hasilon Harishona or First Jet squadron, which was founded June 7, 1953. It operated Israel's first jet aircraft, which included the Gloster Meteor T7, F8, and FR9.[1]Военно-воздушные силы Израиля

Военно-воздушные силы Израиля — один из видов вооружённых сил Израиля, имеются четыре рода авиации: тактическая, истребительная ПВО, разведывательная и транспортная.

Общая численность боевых самолетов — около 446 (кроме того, 250 машин, в основном «Кфир», находятся на базах хранения).

Военно-воздушные силы — на 1 января 2002 года достигают 37 тыс. человек, из которых около 20 тыс. составляют военнослужащие срочной службы (в основном в частях ПВО). После проведения мобилизации их численность может возрасти до 57 тыс.

* Подразделение «Сайерет Шальдаг» (зимородок) — спецназ израильских ВВС.
* Боевые самолёты (F-15 Eagle (А также F-15I, специальная модификация для Израиля), F-16 Fighting Falcon (А также F-16I, специальная модификация для Израиля). Первая партия самолетов F-16 поступила на вооружение в 1980 году. Kfir (на хранении).
* Боевые вертолёты (AH-1 Cobra, AH-64 Apache)
* Транспортные самолёты (C-130 Hercules)
* Транспортные вертолёты (CH-53 Sea Stallion, UH-60 Black Hawk)
* Многоцелевые беспилотные летательные аппараты (Hermes 450, Scout II)

Аэродромная сеть Израиля насчитывает около 57 аэродромов, 54 из них имеют ВПП с искусственным покрытием (в том числе два с ВПП длиной свыше 3 000 м, шесть — от 2 500 до 3 000 м, восемь — от 1 500 до 2 500 м, семь — от 900 до 1 500 м и 31 — до 900 м) и три грунтовых.

Командующий ВВС Израиля — генерал-майор Элиэзер Шкеди.
